Upcoming Classes at Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles
In the impersonal age of Zoom meetups, the school of YouTube, and remote work, the traditional transmission of precious needle arts knowledge in person has become, we fear, a little neglected. Laura Tandeske and Lacis Museum are working hard to remedy that. Together, we'll build a community of embroiderers who will go out and beautify not just their lives, but the textile world that surrounds us, one colorful stitch at a time.
For information on the biweekly free Craft Circle facilitated by Laura Tandeske please see information here
FREE - Lacis Museum Craft Circle
One of our primary objectives is to expand opportunities for connecting with our textile arts and crafts community. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can unleash their creativity and share inspiring moments.
To achieve this goal we are offering a bi-weekly Craft Circle every other Monday from 1PM to 4PM.
Bring the socks you've been putting off darning, the embroidery you're so excited to get started on, the crocheted afghan that's taking you far too long to finish. You'll be in excellent company, and we'll gladly cheer you on from the sidelines! (Plus, we're huge snoops who LOVE to see what everybody's making.) Also, if you are on the fence about taking an embroidery class this is a good opportunity to meet the teacher and ask questions….
Embroidery Magic
This is first and foremost an embroidery workshop. We will go over stitches, technique, design and design transfer, and anything else students would like. At the start of class we discuss what everyone would like to get out of the class. Some students are interested in design techniques, some want to learn specific stitches, some are beginners and don’t know what to expect (this class is perfect for beginners! I would take at least one Foundation class before though to make sure you like embroidery….)
We also discuss the magic of intention that can be applied to embroidery. We talk about the symbolism of color and using certain shapes to convey an intention. I will showcase some of my most personal pieces that are not shared with any other class. We will also talk about the healing properties of doing this slow art! If you would like further details about this class please email me at tandeskeembroidery@gmail.com

Embroidery Sampler Workshop
5 day workshop Monday through Friday 10:00AM to 3:30PM February 17 to 21
This is a week-long course where we deep dive into the Surface Embroidery stitch groups and you will make your own sampler. An optional 1:1, 1 hour feedback review will be offered as a follow-up when you finish your sampler to gain insights on your progress. This workshop is designed to be a continuation of the Foundation Series so all the stitches taught will be different from Foundations. (There are hundreds of stitches to choose from!) If you are a new student and just want to dive in this would be a good class for you as well (no previous experience required).
